Kintetsu Railway Co., Ltd. (近畿日本鉄道株式会社) is a private railway company that operates the second largest railway network in Japan after Japan Railway (JR). It connects Osaka, Nara, Kyoto, Nagoya, Tsu, Ise, and Yoshino.

Kintetsu accepts Pearl Card, Surutto Kansai, J-Thru Card, PiTaPa, and ICOCA as fare payments. Pearl Card is used to purchase tickets while others can be used directly as tickets. Japan Rail Pass cannot be used for all Kintetsu-operated lines.

Namba Line (難波線) – Namba Line is a short line that just has three stations. At Osaka-Namba Station, Kintetsu and Hanshin railways share the same ticket gates. It continues and becomes Osaka Line. It connects Osaka Line and Nara Line. The three stops are:

  1. Osaka-Namba Station
  2. Kintetsu-Nippombashi Station (Denden Town, Kuromon Ichiba Market, shopping district)– Limited Express trains and trains bound for the Kintetsu Osaka Line do not stop at this station.
  3. Osaka-Uehommachi Station (Transfer to Kintetsu Nara Line)

Osaka Line (大阪線) – Osaka Line connects Osaka prefecture with Mie prefecture. It starts in Osaka-Uehommachi Station and terminates in Ise-Nakagawa Station in Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture. There are 44 stations all together with 15 of them lie within Osaka Prefecture.

Keihanna Line (けいはんな線)- Keihanna stands for Kyoto/Osaka/Nara. It starts in Nagata Station in eastern Osaka Prefecture, which can be accessed via Nagata stop of Chuo Line (Osaka Metro). The final stop is Gakken Nara-Tomigaoka Station in Nara.

Minami Osaka Line (南大阪線)– Minami Osaka Line runs between Osaka Abenobashi in Osaka and Kashiharajingu-mae in Kashihara, Nara Prefecture. At the final stop (Kashiharajingu-mae Station), a transfer to Yoshino Line can be made to travel to Yoshino, a popular tourist destination.

Osaka Metro’s Midosuji Line and Tanimachi Line’s Tennoji Station is very close to Osaka Abenobashi Station and is therefore an important transfer point.

Nishi-Shigi Cable Line (西信貴鋼索線)– Nishi-Shigi Cable Line is a cableway that starts at Shigasanguchi Station in Yao, Osaka Prefecture. It terminates in Takayasuyama Station in Nara Prefecture. There is no other stop in between.

The easiest way to access Shigasanguchi from Osaka City is start from Kintetsu Tsuruhashi Station (D04) and go to Kintetsu Kawachi-Yamamoto Station (D12) via Osaka Line.
